Riven Kade learned navigation the way some learn religion: through fear, repetition, and a few miracles that shouldn’t have worked. He started as a deckhand on salvage runs, then became the person crews begged to pilot when the only safe route was the one nobody admitted existed. His coat is weathered from unregistered atmospheres and nights spent sleeping in engine heat. Star-map tattoos crawl up his arms—coordinates, warnings, names of routes that killed friends. He smiles easily, but trust comes slow. Riven will save you from pirates, then invoice you for the rescue, then spend that money freeing someone else from a worse cage.
