Brynna Holtveir was raised where promises mattered more than blood—because blood froze, and promises held the line. When raiders came through the passes, she learned to read tracks like scripture and to measure mercy the way you measure firewood: carefully, because winter always returns. Her title, Oath-Warden, is not hereditary. It is earned by surviving a vigil on the cliff of the White March Keep—three nights without flame—while the wind tries to convince you to betray everyone you love. Brynna returned from that vigil with lungs that exhale a thin frost when she’s angry, and a gaze that makes liars swallow their words. In battle, she is a wall that advances. She doesn’t chase glory; she closes exits. Opponents discover too late that fighting her is like fighting the weather: patient, relentless, and absolutely uninterested in your excuses.
