IS THIS YOUR FIRST LA COMIC-CON? FANCON HAS GOT YOU!

Is this your first time attending LA Comic-Con? We are so excited for you — seriously! From celebrity meet and greets to epic cosplay and collectibles, LACC is an excellent convention for newbies and locals.

But with all the excitement comes a fair bit of chaos. To help you stay sane, safe, and smiling through it all, here are FanCon’s best tips — from pre-con planning to post-con recovery.

1. Secure your badge

Tickets and badges are on sale now!

Here’s what’s currently available:

  • Single-Day Passes: Friday, Saturday, or Sunday

  • 3-Day Weekend Passes: Best bang for your buck if you’re planning to attend more than one day

  • VIP Passes: Includes early entry, exclusive merch, and reserved seating

  • Kids Passes (ages 6–12; under 6 free with a paid adult
  • Consider your must-see guests and events when purchasing individual day passes. Generally, panels with the biggest draws are scheduled for Saturday. We recommend referencing the 2024 Schedule to get a general idea of what each day looks like.
  • See available ADA Accommodations here.

2. Book lodging

Comic-Con partners with EvolveCon to list hotels at reduced rates across Los Angeles. View the Official Map Here

As all listings are first-come, first-served, remember to research hotels ahead of time! Consider details like parking, transit access, walkability, and nightly rates.

Alternatives include Airbnb, VRBO, and local hostels, although prices tend to spike around LACC. When booking, be cautious of cancellation policies and proximity to transit!

3. Consider Transportation & Parking

  • Parking passes are available for $30/day at the Los Angeles Convention Center. Additional lots in the area fill up quickly, so we strongly recommend arriving early, carpooling or taking public transportation.

  • Public Transit: Los Angeles has reliable subways, light rail, buses and shuttles that can be accessed with Metro TAP.  See full information here.

  • Rideshare: Uber and Lyft are reliable options, but expect price surges.

4. Plan Out Your Schedule

Panels, signings, and pop-ups run simultaneously. To avoid FOMO:

    • Purchase Celebrity Photo-op and Autograph Packages beforehand. View the schedule here
    • Get the schedule ahead of time with the Official LACC App. The panel and programming schedules are expected to be released in early September.

    • Familiarize yourself with the convention center map ahead of time. The floor plan & exhibitor list are expected to be released in early September

    • If you’re into specific fandoms, make sure to look up any exclusives or sneak peeks they might have.

5. Pack Smart

It’s not just what you bring, but how much you bring that matters. Here’s a tried-and-true packing list:

    • A sturdy backpack
    • Refillable or sealed water bottle (hydration stations available)
    • High-protein snacks
    • Portable charger or power bank
    • Deodorant
    • Hand sanitizer
    • Earplugs (for noise sensitivity)
    • Poster protectors or elastic bands (if you plan to buy prints)
    • Ziploc bags for small trinkets and freebies
    • Light jacket or hoodie (the AC in panel rooms can be chilly)
    • Collapsible stool or small blanket to sit on while waiting
    • Entertainment for waiting (book, headphones, journal, cards, crochet, etc.)
    • Extra cash (many vendors will accept it tax-free)
    • Extra space for souvenirs!

1. Arrive Early for Must-See Panels

Panels take place on the exhibit hall floor, open for all attendees to see. It is generally standing room only unless you are a VIP, VVIP or ADA pass holder. As the panel area does not clear out between sessions, it is in your best interest to grab a spot in the morning for a popular panel later that day.

  • While the main panel stage is a cool concept used since LACC’s inception, attendees have expressed frustrations with the setup as the con has grown in popularity. Consider whether this panel setup is for you, particularly if you have difficulty standing for long periods, are short in height, or have difficulty hearing over lots of noise.

2. Comfort is Key

With all that LACC has to offer, you’re going to be on your feet for hours. Pack comfortable shoes and clothing; this is not the time to break in new boots!

If you’re cosplaying, think about:

  • Mobility and heat

  • Where will you store accessories

  • Packing repair tape or safety pins

3. Hydrate & Snack Smart

Comic-Con can get pretty intense, and you can easily forget to drink water or eat, especially when you’re having a blast. Avoid “con crash” by:

    • Carrying high-protein snacks (think trail mix, protein bars, jerky)
    • Eating breakfast before you head in

    • Finding nearby restaurants during off-hours

    • There are food vendors in the convention centre with low lines, but prices are high.

4. Explore the Main Exhibit Hall

The Main Exhibit Hall is LACC’s beating heart; part marketplace, part museum, part maze. You’ll find:

Give yourself time to explore—previous attendees note that the floor can be fully completed in about half a day.

5. Cosplay Etiquette

LACC has some of the best cosplay in the world. Whether you’re dressed up or snapping pics:

    • Always ask permission before taking a photo.

    • Respect personal space and time—some cosplayers are on their way to panels too!

    • Cosplay is not consent! Do not touch costumes or props unless invited.

6. Stay Connected

The Wi-Fi inside the Convention Center can be spotty! Make sure to download important info (badge confirmation, hotel address) before arrival. This also includes downloading any helpful apps (LACC Official App, Rideshare Services) ahead of time.

Make sure to follow fan meet-ups, Discord channels, and social hashtags (#LACC, etc.) for real-time updates and community fun.

7. Take It All In

Lastly, try to step back at times and take it all in. There’s something magical about being surrounded by so many passionate fans, creators, and talent. It’s okay if you don’t see everything, it’s more about enjoying the experience!

Take breaks. People-watch. Chat with strangers in line. Enjoy the ride.

1. Unpack & Organize

Once you’re home, resist the urge to dump your bag and crash. Sort through:

    • Freebies and swag

    • Signed items or exclusives (protect them!)

    • Photos and videos

    • Business cards from artists or vendors you want to support

2. Relive the Magic

  • Follow up with your favorite creators or cosplayers

  • Post your photos, thank panellists or staff, and tag official accounts

  • Join Comic-Con groups to share experiences and get updates on what you missed

  •

Whether you’re attending the panels, collecting exclusives, cosplaying, or enjoying the energy of being among thousands of fellow fans, LA Comic-Con will be incredibly memorable. With a little preparation, you’re going to have the time of your life!
